10 Celebrity Destination Weddings


Destination weddings are increasingly becoming popular. If you and your spouse-to-be are considering having one, check out these destinations where celebrity couples tied the knot!

  1. After a courthouse ceremony, actress Mira Sorvino and Chris Backus exchanged their vows in front of one hundred guests in the Mediterranean island of Capri. The couple had a sunset wedding.

  2. Actors Emma Thompson and Greg Wise were married in Loch Eck, Scotland, and the reception was held at the 17th-century Coylet Inn in Argyll. Guests didn’t know where the wedding was to take place until the very last moment. Thompson’s daughter, Gaia, was the flower girl.
  3. Liv Tyler and rocker Royston Langdon decided on a private wedding in a private villa in the Caribbean island of Barbados. They had a second wedding a month later – one their relatives attended – in Pastis, a popular eatery in New York.
  4. Melissa Joan Hart (“Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”) and Mark Wilkerson got married in romantic Florence, Italy and honeymooned in Scotland, Ireland and England.
  5. In 2003, Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes had a spur-of-the-moment destination wedding – while they were on vacation in the West Indies. Winslet’s daughter witnessed the wedding.
  6. Tiger Woods and Swedish model Elin Nordegren exchanged vows during a sunset wedding in a golf course clubhouse in St. James, Barbados. For their honeymoon, they went aboard the yacht, “Privacy”, and spent time diving in the Caribbean waters.
  7. Elizabeth Berkley and artist Greg Lauren had one hundred friends and family members join them in a three-day destination wedding in Esperanza Resort in Mexico. The resort was voted by Travel and Leisure Magazine as the top Mexico and Central American resort.
  8. Eighty of NFL legend Deion Sanders and model Pilar Bigger’s closest friends flew to Paradise Islands in the Bahamas to witness the couple’s wedding. Deion and Pilar had an ocean view ceremony.
  9. Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith had a dramatic and lavish wedding in Ireland – the ceremony was held in 800-year-old Ballintubber Abbey and the reception at a 13th century castle, Ashford Castle Hotel.
  10. Dixie Chick’s Martie Seidel and Gareth Maguire had not one but two destination weddings. The first was in the island of Kailua in Hawaii, where the bride walked down the beach aisle with “Ireland’s Green Shore” serving as the wedding march. The second wedding was at the Londonberry Arms hotel in Carnlough, Ireland.
